Sam Flanery:

Sam is an accomplished speaker having addressed audiences across the U.S. such as the Michigan Green Jobs conference in Lansing Michigan , Weatherization Training conference’s, Workforce development organizations. Sam has recently made several presentations pertaining to energy auditor certification and training as well as Home Performance contractor education. He is a BPI certified building analyst and a BPI Certified Building Envelope Professional. He is a member of the BPI National Affiliate counsel.

Sam spent over 15 years on a national speaking circuit as a motivational speaker as well as training sales organizations pertaining to selling products and services to the consumer market. He also is owner and founder of Michigan Energy Savings, a company that has done energy audits and managed energy improvements on over 250 homes and businesses over the past 4 years. He is an accomplished speaker having addressed audiences across the U.S. in energy efficiency education such as:

  • Weatherization Conferences
  • Workforce Development Organizations
  • State Agencies and Commissions

 

Kim Phillipi:

More than 20 years of experience in the testing, engineering and systems certification business of Entela (now Intertek) as owner, CEO, and Chairman of the Board, Kim Phillipi oversees Building Science Academy's operations and administration. Kim has a BS in materials engineering from Michigan Technological University. Kim was extensively involved in the development of quality programs for laboratory and calibration accreditation programs both internationally and nationally for multiple markets and industries including:

  • American Association of Laboratory Accreditation: accreditation from A2LA for multiple disciplines and multiple locations both in US and internationally
  • Laboratory Accreditation Bureau: development of new accreditation body for laboratories
  • Occupational Safety and Health Program: product certification of medical, IT, consumer and other products
  • Food and Drug Administration: accreditation to FDA for certification of medical products
  • Registrar Accreditation Board: accreditation for ISO 9000/IS) 14000 programs

Her business experience includes multiple start-ups, mergers and acquisitions, service line development and overseeing multiple operations internationally.

 

Brad Mann:


Over 12 years experience in the HVAC industry prior to becoming a certified HERS Energy Rater. Owner and operator of established energy consulting company providing services as the lead Residential Building Performance Trainer and Quality Assurance Designee for RSNET provider service, assisting with project engineering for design build jobs and building failure analysis. Extensive hands on experience conducting energy audits and training of energy auditors across the State of Michigan including: State of Michigan for Energy Star Homes, RSNET certified rater trainings, City of Grand Rapids, weatherization agencies and utility companies.
