Energy Assessment Trainers and Field Proctor Testers

Expand your skill set and increase your career opportunities by joining The Building Science Academy as a Home Energy Assessment Trainer or Field Examiner. Exceptional opportunity for building trades professionals to work as independent contractors training others to perform energy assessments on properties.

Instructors will market and deliver training programs, and will oversee the written and field proctor examinations for the Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certification Program. The program offers a comprehensive, "whole house/building" approach to improving energy efficiency and savings, while helping to protect the environment by diagnosing the critical performance factors of a building that can impact health, safety, comfort, energy efficiency and durability.

After successful completion of training program and exams, these specially-trained Home Performance Contractors will have the knowledge and tools to assess properties and recommend Comprehensive improvements that will yield cost-effective energy savings and energy efficiency results to property owners.

Qualified candidates must possess some of the following qualifications:

  • Building Inspector
  • Construction Engineer or Contractor
  • Electrical Engineer or Electrical Design
  • Structural Engineer or Design/Architecture
  • Weatherization: Insulation and Ventilation
  • Mechanical Systems: HVAC
  • Building Envelope Retrofits
  • Home Energy Evaluation
  • Environmental Engineer or Inspector
  • Experience in Energy Management
  • Excellent oral communication and writing skills
  • The ability to travel
  • Energy certification in programs such as LEED, HERS, CEM, NATE or BPI
  • Weatherization training by the Michigan Department of Human Services

Experienced Mortgage Underwriter


Responsibilities include analysis of loan applications, credit history, income documentation, income ratios, and appraisal to insure loan conforms to FNMA, FHA, or PHFA underwriting guidelines. Assign loan conditions as necessary and clear outstanding stipulations. Assist in insure all fair lending laws and compliance guidelines are upheld in all transactions.
Candidates would be desired to be an approved Direct Endorsement Underwriter and have a thorough understanding of mortgage originations, FNMA, FHA , EEM and 203(k) knowledge a plus. Sales experience a plus with extensive knowledge of primary mortgage underwriters.
Commission only program with option for base/commission program dependant on performance.
